First, five questions to ask yourself before choosing a watercolor palette

Which watercolor palette is better for you? There are so many shapes,

Size and style,

Although there are many good color palettes,

But it's still hard to find the right one.

Ask yourself these five questions before picking a palette,

Maybe it can help you choose better!

1. "How tidy do I need to be?" ”

If you draw very clean and organized,

Then the flower palette will suit you well.

If you like to be free and do whatever you want,

You may prefer a palette without barriers.

And if you're somewhere in between,

Then choose the type that has both small partitions and large spaces.

2. "Where do I draw?" ”

You're painting in a studio where the palette can be laid flat,

Or dealing with uneven places in nature?

The location of the painting has a great influence on the choice.

If you often go out to paint,

Then you should like the sealed palette,

Prevents pigment leakage.

3. "How do I mix my paint?"

When you mix pigments, you're using a small amount of pigment.

Or add a little bit of this and a little bit of that,

Until it feels right?

If you have precise color grading or prefer to mix in a small area,

Then a palette of individual colors is ideal for you.

If you want to mix pigments in a larger area,

Then you'll need a bigger color palette.

4. "Do I want to save the color for later?"

You will clean the palette after each painting,

Or let the pigment dry out,

Add water to continue using it the next time you draw?

If you prefer the former, you can choose one that is easy to clean

(not too big) color palette. If the latter,

Then you will need a collapsible color palette,

So that the colors are not inverted.

It would be better if there was a lid that prevents dust from entering the pigment.

5. "What attracts me?" ”

When you pick a color palette in a store or online,

Which looks cooler and more appealing to you?

Which one looks super suitable for you?

Listen to your instincts and take the time to find what works for you.

Try different options and see which one works for you!
